Thirty Years of journal Organizacija znanja (OZ)

With volume 30 (2025), we are marking three decades of publishing the professional-scientific journal Organizacija znanja (OZ). With this journal, IZUM continues its efforts, with due responsibility, to connect the community of the COBISS system and to broaden professional horizons. Information exchange was the key element already in the beginning of creating this community. In 1991, IS P.O.B. (Bulletin YSSTI, ISSN 0353-9334) was published, being the first online newsletter in the then Yugoslavia. In spite of electronic communication with the COBISS system users, there was the need of more extensive written communication, which was written also in the first issue of the printed bulletin COBISS obvestila (ISSN 1318-8585, e-edition 1408-8134). This quarterly, which was published six years, was edited by Alojz Urbajs. In 2002, the concern for professional discourse was taken over by mag. Franci Pivec as the editor in chief. He gave the journal a new content and a new name – Organizacija znanja (ISSN 1580-979X, e-ed. 1580-9803). As a result, the understanding of automation of library and information systems within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary environment of library and automation activities became broader. Since 2014, when Aleksandra Rubelj became the editor in chief of the journal, the journal is published only electronically, as an online publication. After 2019, the access to the entire archive of the journal in the PDF format was provided (available at https://www.cobiss.si/oz/ and https://oz.cobiss.si/). In 2019, mag. Branka Badovinac became the editor in chief, and dr. Ema Dornik and dr. Renata Zadravec Pešec became the editors of the journal.
