The article presents the way in which bibliographic information quality is assured within the COBISS.SI shared cataloguing. A special emphasis has been given on the activities related to the implementation of the provisions of the Rules on Issuing the Permission for Shared Cataloguing.
Cataloguing rules strongly influence the quality of bibliographic data, which is made obvious through the COBISS system, where data has to be transferred to the system’s data format.
The article presents the course of the preparation and experience of Specialised Information Centres (OSIC) with the verification of bibliographic units according to the typology of documents in the COBISS system within the framework of the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS).
The project of developing the COBISS.SI General List of Subject Headings (SGC) has been running since 2000, in cooperation between the Institute of Information Science (Institut informacijskih znanosti, IZUM) and six Central Specialised Information Centres.
