The web application developed within the COBISS.SI system and intended for bibliographies of researchers and professionals as well as for articles published in serials is addressed. Possible methods for creating different types of bibliographies and methods for selecting and/or excluding bibliographic items when creating bibliographies of authors/researchers are presented.
The newspaper called Organizacija znanja (Organization of Knowledge), which is the continuation of the newspaper called COBISS Obvestila (COBISS News), is published also in an electronic form. For this purpose, IZUM has developed a special web application which makes it possible to offer the newspaper contents representing it as a source of information on the web. Modern technologies, such as Java and XML, have been applied.
The usage of XML technology is a common feature of many present-day WWW applications. The article presents certain new aspects in the development of XML technology. More and more XML standards have begun to emerge and have been made implemented. The majority of most important XML specifications has already been standardised.
This article deals with the design of the web and certain elements of the process leading to the web that is placed on a web server. It addresses a content and organizational aspect of the web, the provision of the web with a site index and a search engine, the web implementation, as well as the inter-linking of web sites.
XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a simple, very flexible text format, based on SGML (ISO 8879). Designed by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to meet the challenges of large-scale electronic publishing, XML will also play an increasingly important role in the exchange of a wide variety of data on the Web.
