In 2003, IFLA started preparing a new international cataloguing code. As opposed to the previous code, the Paris Principles, the new code should pay greater attention to the diversity of national cataloguing practices. On the basis of corporate name headings, we have tried to present the genesis of international principles from the idea of the universal use of a uniform heading to the idea of universal control forms per body. The latter should form the basis for the new International Cataloguing Code.
