In autumn 2019, IZUM prepared the medium-term strategy for 2019–2024. Seven strategic objectives are identified. They are described based on the common methodology (situation analysis, description of the objectives, planned measures to achieve the objectives, expected results and effects, indicators and specific risk factors with risk control measures).
As part of its mission in the Slovenian librarianship sphere, IZUM puts great emphasis on education and training. Today’s way of life is very information- and technology-oriented, and e-learning with its online access to contents can additionally improve information literacy and also the quality of lifelong learning as a basic human right.
At its 36th General Assembly in November 2011, UNESCO adopted the decision to grant IZUM the status of a category 2 centre. One year later, the Agreement between the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Republic of Slovenia was signed in Paris, specifying and defining IZUM’s functions as a regional category 2 centre under the auspices of UNESCO. The most significant events and our reflections after three years of performing this function are presented.
