This article represents a stimulus for debate and the resolving of key issues in several co-related fields: the divide between information philosophy and those philosophies and theories that are unjustifiably overlooked with regards to their relevance to librarianship and information science; knowledge and wisdom as categories of information science; professional responsibility for the philosophy of librarianship and information science; the connection between computer science and other sciences as a new scientific paradigm.

Filozofija bibliotekarstva in informacijske znanosti: ali sta bibliotekarstvo in informacijska znanost v filozofiji informacij dokončno pridobila ustrezen teoretični dom?

In philosophy of information (PI), an appropriate theoretical framework has been provided for library and information science (LIS). The main advocate of PI is Luciano Floridi, who points out that in a digital age PI is an imperative of philosophy itself. LIS, on the other hand, is applied PI. There are few opposing views to Floridi’s statement that LIS is applied PI, but there are a lot of those who agree with it.
