Every 20 years, the development of IT has multiplied by 1000, and yet we are still at the beginning. The development entails great risks and we need to be constantly aware that high technology requires high ethics. This has motivated IFIP to set up "a technical committee for non-technical questions", which many could not comprehend, those from the East in particular. As the use of computers has spread into more and more areas, such as humanities, medicine, organisation, language, the World Wide Web, and tele-operation where technicallogics cannot be applied in problem solving, the need to study mutual effects between computers and the society has become more evident than ever.
The concept of web accessibility provides the basis for ensuring accessibility of websites and mobile apps for all users, primarily for persons with a disability. The Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act from 2018 represents a regulation of minimal harmonization and it summarizes the EU directive. Although the act was adopted several years ago, the situation in Slovenia is still relatively undeveloped.
The paper reviews, with some historical distance, the circumstances leading to the VMS operating system becoming the basis for developing and implementing the COBISS national shared bibliographic system.
The article presents and analyses selected digital humanities projects and research initiatives in which libraries and other heritage institutions participate actively. Modern systemization of work must become a process just as other organizational processes monitored by it. The purpose of our research was to create an SWP model (systemization of work as a process model) for knowledge-based business functions, which will be useful in practice and will make it possible to organise work on the basis of employee competencies and to form salaries on the basis of effective work time, and complexity and quality of work. During research we designed an SWP model and presented how to determine the complexity of tasks based on the required competencies, the criteria for determining the quality of work and the method of recording effective work.
