Dobreknjige.si is an online platform designed for readers seeking high-quality fiction and non-fiction recommendations. As a national project of Slovenian public libraries, it helps users organize their reading and connect with fellow readers, and promotes a vibrant reading culture. The portal attracts over two million visits annually, with its popularity steadily increasing. After a decade of operation, a major upgrade became necessary due to outdated technology, limited development possibilities and the need to meet modern user expectations.

Researching reading habits and reading culture of Slovenian librarians: methodological issues

The paper describes the methodology of a study of reading habits and reading culture of librarians and library management in Slovenian libraries, which is a part of a broader survey in the project Reading role models: reading habits of professional staff in kindergartens, schools and faculties and public libraries – i.e. a study of all professionals involved in and influencing reading literacy and reading culture, as well as of students for these professions.

Accessibility for vulnerable groups in the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia

One of the key tasks of the e-ARH.si: ESS 2016–2020/2021 project was ensuring accessibility for vulnerable groups. To achieve this goal, we included individuals with disabilities in the project team. As part of this project, more than 2,100 different types of archival records were adapted, and the websites of all six regional archives were adjusted for vulnerable groups.

How are web archives created? Technical aspects of web content capture

Web archives are collections produced by libraries and other heritage institutions to permanently preserve online heritage. They often contain large amounts of material stored from the web through the use of web crawlers. From a usage perspective, they are often unpredictable, non-transparent and inconsistent data sources that contain numerous content gaps.

Academic books: scientific and similar monographs in Slovenia from 2013 to 2023

The basis for the analysis of scientific and similar monographs (academic books) in Slovenia in the period from 2013 to 2023 were bibliographic records in the COBIB.SI database that contain also information on the type of scientific publication (for less than half of the records verified). During this period, an average of 520 to 1245 monographs were published annually (depending on which types of works are counted as academic books and how reissues, such as reprints, new editions and e-books, are treated).
