In order to achieve smooth operation of the COBISS system, the best computer and communication technology has to be used, especially now when 24/7 functioning of the COBISS services is expected by the users.
To view a large number of databases the Czech library users may use the Universal Information Gateway. The subject information gateways to serve in various branches are being prepared.
Presented is a collaborative reference service Ask a Librarian, which based on a joint effort by 11 institutions officially started operating in the COBISS.SI system on 1 January 2005.
