The paper describes the upload of bibliographic records from the COBIB.SI shared database as well as holdings data of certain Slovenian libraries into WorldCat, the Online Union Catalogue. In 2009, the initial upload of records was made and a regular quarterly upload followed.
The reference service is an important part of every library, whose purpose is to help users find the information they want and need in order to satisfy their information needs. With the increasing influence of information-technology is also developing tools that allow users remote access to reference services, irrespective of whether they are members of any library.
Dramatic social and economic crisis that all economies have been witnessing in the last few years, and the environmental crisis the planet is currently going through have made people re-think the limits of the free global market enlargement. What kind of future are we preparing for the next generations? Will billions of dollars keep flowing each day in the global marketplace?
