Hans Küng, a contemporary Swiss Catholic theologian (born in 1928), who because of his heretic position was in 1979 deprived even of the right to lecture at the Catholic University of Tubingen, is the creator of a new Global Ethic, Weltethos. According to him, Weltethos does not mean a new global religion, but rather a binding ethical system of coordinates.
The proposal of the two national strategies, higher education strategy and research and innovation strategy, includes for the next decade also ethical guidelines, which are commented upon in terms of the practice in this area in Slovenia and internationally.
The seventh IFIP “Human Choice and Computers” Conference held in Maribor in 2006 confirmed Rob Kling’s statement that computer technologies play a key role in the transformation of social relationships – between individuals as well as within communities and institutions. ICT can bring freedom or slavery to people, depending on their awareness of the fact that “High technology requires high ethics.” (Zemanek) Pronounced pervasiveness of ICT and its global impact generate many ethical dilemmas, which cannot be resolved by computer experts if they do not have adequate ethical education.
New technologies are raising also serious problems and concerns that do not seem to get satisfying answers. To come to some understanding of this phenomenon, we built a simple model of processes, driving the development of new technologies.
Through a brief summary of the history and structure of Bulgarian librarianship, the paper reveals how the library community has been gradually integrated into the international COBISS.Net network. Presented are the very beginnings of the librarianship and its subsequent expansion in the independent Bulgaria.
Research on wisdom has become popular primarily in the last two decades. There is no generally excepted definition as yet, but a general consensus exists that wisdom is a concept, which can be studied from various aspects, similarly to information.
The aim of the paper is to outline the recommended methods for development of authentic leadership: mentorship/coaching, action learning, 360 degree leadership, succession system and story tellling technique. Employees in the organizations of the new era need a positive leadership where the leader is true to himself/herself and is therefore authentic leader. Authentic leaders are self confident people, full of optimism, flexible and possess hope.
